MOSFETs

Vishay is one of the world's foremost manufacturers of power MOSFETs. The Vishay Siliconix MOSFET product line includes a diverse range of advanced technologies in more than 30 package types, from the chipscale MICRO FOOT® and thermally advanced PowerPAK® families to the classic “TO” transistor outline. Single- and multi-die MOSFETs are available with integrated features such as Schottky body diodes and ESD protection, while our unique PowerPAIR® devices combine optimized combinations of MOSFETs for synchronous buck converters and other applications in a single package.

Optoelectronics

Vishay is the world's number-one manufacturer of infrared components, with a portfolio that includes infrared receivers, emitters, IrDA transceivers, optocouplers, solid-state relays, and touch panels. The Next Generation VRPower® Power Stage, Vishay’s family of VRPower modules offers an integrated MOSFET and driver power stage with unsurpassed performance.

Analog Switches and Multiplexers

Vishay offers analog switches in all major configuration types (SPST, SPDT, DPST, DPDT) and in nearly 20 surface-mount and through-hole package types. Applications include data acquisition, industrial process control, test and measurment, and medical systems as well as signal switching in cell phones,set-top boxes, PDAs, media players and video games.

Capacitors

Types of capacitors manufactured by Vishay include tantalum (both solid and wet), ceramic (both multilayer chip and disk), film, power, heavy-current, and alumninum. Vishay is the number one manufacturer worldwide of wet and conformal-coated tantalum capacitors, as well as capacitors for power electronics. Vishay is also one of the largest manufacturers of molded tantalum surface-mount capacitors.

Capacitors - Aluminum Electrolytic

Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors provide a smaller capacitor option when high power ratings and high capacitance values are needed.

Capacitors - Ceramic

Ceramic is commonly used dielectric material that can improve capacitor power dissipation.

Capacitors - Tantalum

Tantalum powder is used in capacitors to allow for a very thin dielectric layer, providing high capacitance values in smaller case sizes.

Resistors, Fixed

Vishay's discrete resistors serve applications in virtually all major market sectors. Resistive technology options include thin film, thick film, metal oxide film, carbon film and wirewound, as well as Power Metal Strip®. Vishay is the number one manufacturer worldwide of wirewound and other power resistors, leaded film resistors, and thick film surface-mount resistors.

Thermistors

Vishay is the only supplier that manufactures both ceramic technology-based thermistors as well as thin film-based RTDs. That means customers have the widest choice of NTC and PTC thermistors along with TFPT and PTS RTD sensors for maximum sensitivity, stability, and accuracy in temperature sensing applications.

Varistors

Vishay varistors provide a reliable and efficient way to protect against high-voltage transients and surges. They have the capability to absorb high transient energies and can suppress both positive and negative transients.

Trimmers

Trimmers allow for easy adjustment of resistance values through physical manipulation. Vishay offers single- and multi-turn trimmers in a variety of case styles, sizes, and technologies.

Panel Potentiometers

Panel Potentiometers are variable resistors that are commonly used for all applications involving a reasonable number of cycles (few tens of thousands, manually actuated). Mounted behind the front panel for various equipment, they frequently feature buttons mounted on their shafts.

Sensors - Position: Non-contacting

For use in harsh environments, Vishay offers non-contacting position sensors based on Hall Effect technology.

Inductors

With through-hole, SMD, and custom products available, Vishay offers the widest range of inductors in the industry. This product family includes the low-profile IHLP® power inductor family, ideal for compact, space-sensitive applications.

Appllications

Automotive

Automotive systems include a wide range of functions and products. These include powertrains, chassis control, body electronics, passive safety systems, exterior lighting, 48 VDC boardnet, start / stop, micro hybrid vehicles, full hybrid vehicles (HEVs), and full electric vehicles (FEVs). All of these depend on types of electronic components manufactured by Vishay, including diodes and rectifiers, MOSFETs, optoelectronic products, resistors, inductors, and capacitors.

Avionics, Military, Space

The AMS market includes airborne systems, satellites and GPS systems, flight control computers, cockpit panels, braking systems, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), drones, and more. These require the use of discrete semiconductors and passive components manufactured by Vishay, including diodes and rectifiers, MOSFETs, display modules, resistors, resistor networks, inductors, custom magnetics, tantalum capacitors, and ceramic capacitors.

Computer

Computer products include tablets, notebooks, ultrabooks, embedded systems, solid-state drives (SSDs), uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), and networking switches and routers, as well as peripherals such as GPU graphics cards, wireless chargers, and printers. These require the use of semiconductors and passive components manufactured by Vishay such as diodes and rectifiers, MOSFETs, power ICs, optoelectronic products, resistors, inductors, and capacitors.

Consumer

The consumer sector includes both home appliances and entertainment products. Types of components manufactured by Vishay are used in home appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines and dryers, refrigerators and freezers, and robotic vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers. They also are used in smartwatches, fitness bands, media streaming devices, TVs, e-book readers, game consoles, smartglasses, virtual reality systems, and more. As an example, Vishay components are used in applications in LCD TVs including power conversion, EMI filtering, rectification, power factor correction, analog/digital signal switching, audio amplification, interface protection, infrared receiving, and gesture recognition.

Industrial

From factory automation to energy conversion to industrial lighting, types of semiconductors and passive electronic components manufactured by Vishay play key roles. They are used in AC motor drives, power transmission and distribution, solar and wind power systems, lighting ballasts, and more. For example, factory automation systems can use MOSFETs, power ICs, diodes and rectifiers, infrared optoelectronic products, resistors, thermistors, inductors, capacitors, and other electronic components.

Medical

From large equipment such MRI systems and X-ray machines to small devices such as hearing aids, medical products and systems use types of components manufactured by Vishay. They are used in nerve stimulators, pacemakers, defibrillators, patient monitoring systems, medical instrumentation equipment, blood pressure cuffs, blood glucose meters, and more. Vishay is a leading manufacturer of telemetry coils for pacemakers and defibrillators and transformers for defibrillators, as well as capacitors for implantable devices and hearing aids.

Telecommunications

The world is becoming an increasingly interconnected place, and telecommunications products and systems help to enable this connectivity. The smartphones that are replacing PCs, laptops, cameras, and even GPS systems are crammed with electronic components for voice communications, texting, email, web browsing, social media interaction, navigation, and imaging. Supporting are these functions are the earthbound, airborne, and underwater systems that comprise the telecommunications infrastructure: base stations, transmission towers, satellites, submarine communications cables, modems, line cards, and more, all of which require electronic components.
